About Placécol
Placécol Cosmetics are formulated and manufactured in South Africa to provide a holistic, one-stop offering to the health and beauty industry.
Placécol Cosmetics has managed to grow the footprint of its own brands aggressively in an extremely competitive environment including its own product supply through its manufacturing facility, its beauty centers or day spas, and the Placécol Beauty Institute in order to gain access to qualified beauty therapists. The establishment of these strategic business units not only provides Placécol with self-sufficiency in South Africa but has also resulted in the creation a strong recognizable brand. Now, U.S. citizens and business partners have aligned with Placécol to secure a unique position in the health and beauty industry in South Africa and the United States!
Placécol was incorporated as a private company on 10 October 2003 and was converted to a public company in South Africa on 12 January 2007, on which date the company also changed its name to Placécol Holdings Limited. The Placécol product range currently manufactured, distributed and marketed by Placécol Cosmetics was originally formulated by a pharmacist in Ermelo in 1980. The current management team was established 10 years’ ago when Wessel de Wet and Charles Moolman acquired these product formulations with their main objective being to provide unique, effective skincare solutions to the market at affordable prices.
Subsequent to the acquisition of the product formulations, the group commenced manufacturing its own products. Thus was born the manufacturing company, Placécol Cosmetics, to engage in the marketing and distribution of Placécol branded skincare products and providing laser skincare therapy in conjunction with the use of these Placécol branded products.
The Placécol Beauty Institute, a division of Placécol Cosmetics, was opened in 2005, with an enrollment capacity of more than 200 students. Upon completion of the two-year course offered by the Placécol Beauty Institute students are eligible to write the internationally-recognized ITEC and SAAHSP diploma exams.
In 2008, The vision for Placécol USA was formed when Heather Elrod, a U.S. citizen and business executive, was introduced to Placécol by a South African entrepreneur, Hennie De Wet. The company was formed and shortly thereafter Holly Harmon joined the founding team as Master Aesthetician and Training Executive. The new company began distributing Placécol's ground-breaking products and exclusive cold lasers to spas, medspas, and physicians throughout the United States in 2009.
